Description

Leadership

- May serve as DBA Lead on Enterprise Technology Program teams to support the teams' objectives
- Participates as a DBA Lead on incident response ('Red') teams to provide critical problem solving direction
- Coordinates activities of other DBA's on larger projects


Database Administration

- Installs and configures databases and database-related software utilities to meet department needs
- Develops scripts (e.g. SQL, Unix Shell, Perl) to monitor and support database environments.  Reviews scripts from other DBA's or Developers for completeness and accuracy prior to execution in production
- Develops and tests backup and recovery processes to ensure high availability and recoverability of databases
- Collects and analyzes data for capacity planning / performance monitoring
- Independently performs functions to administer system access (e.g. setting up accounts, maintaining privileges and roles, maintaining passwords).  Works with Enterprise Data and Information Security and Change Management to ensure internal controls compliance


Project Responsibilities

- Reviews and contributes to system design documents (SDD) to meet the objectives of the project
- Defines and coordinates all DBA tasks and provides time estimates to aid in project scheduling, and monitors progress against task estimates to provide timely status to Project Manager
- Recommends database infrastructure design to meet project objectives
- Serves as DBA Lead in Business Continuity Plan (BCP) projects and tests to ensure high availability of our critical production databases


Support

- Develops and maintains knowledge in several areas of expertise, as well as an advanced  understanding of all databases and operating systems, to provide daytime and after hours support for production databases
- Drives process improvements within DBA field.

Qualifications

5 or more years experience as a Database Administrator.  Bachelors or associates degree preferred.  Consideration may be given to a candidate with a degree in lieu of experience.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Special Skills
- Min 2 years experience with Oracle 11g, preferably 11g Release 2
- Min 2 years experience with Linux Operating System
- Demonstrated proficiency with DBA skills, including tuning, securing db, patching, recovery, SQL and PL/SQL
- Experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Data Guard and Automated Storage Management highly desirable
- Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager a plus
- Experience with Oracle Golden Gate a plus
