Running Oracle Databases on AWS

This presentation/demonstration will discuss options for running Oracle Databases on AWS, such as via the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) and the Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS). We will discuss considerations for choosing the right AWS configuration and discuss how you can use current metrics (such as AWR history data) to help guide you to the right choice.

David Bayard is a Solution Architect for the AWS Data and Analytics Specialized Sales team. He has been a member of AWS since October 2018. Prior to that, David was a Distinguished Sales Consultant at Oracle Corporation and worked for Oracle for 26 years.

With Oracle 19c there are some new features available that customers may not yet be aware of. I’ll review of few of those new features. As everyone knows Oracle would like customers to get to the 19c release level as soon as they are able, so understanding what new capabilities exist can help in building business unit interest in moving to this version.

Data is driving today's organizations. With the help of modern analytics embedded with machine learning, business can quickly and easily access all available data with stunning visualizations and dashboards. Friday’s session will include a demo of Oracle Analytics Cloud Service and Autonomous Data Warehouse. OAC provides capabilities that include data visualization, data preparation, collaboration, enterprise reporting, and mobile access. OAC provides Strategic Analytics to address the information and insight needs of all users. OAC will ensure that executives, analysts, and senior management gain even greater value from their cloud application.

David Huffman is a Solution Engineer in the Oracle Cloud Solutions Hub. He focuses on Oracle’s Analytics pillar and specializing in Data Visualization and Business Intelligence. The Cloud Solution Hubs are hubs of developers and engineers working on solutions for our customers looking to modernize and transform their businesses using the Oracle Cloud. Their focus is on innovations across Oracle cloud technologies and industries.

Patrick Burke is an Analytics Solutions Specialist. He works alongside the Cloud Platform reps to help Oracle’s customers define use cases and deliver better business insights using Autonomous Data Warehouse and Oracle Analytics Cloud. He is based in New York City and works with customers on Long Island and in Upstate New York.
