Oracle Cloud Machine
Oracle Cloud Machine
Steve Van Hall, Oracle
Oracle Cloud Machine delivers Oracle Cloud in your data center. Rather than procuring hardware, installing software and managing the system, you easily consume the same cloud services on your premises, just like you do in Oracle Cloud. Oracle Cloud Machine includes a wide range of Oracle Cloud services - Oracle Platform as a Service(PaaS) including Java Cloud Service, Integration Cloud Service, Database Cloud Service and Oracle Compute Infrastructure as a service (IaaS). You can use these cloud services as building blocks to accelerate the development of your innovative applications while maintaining complete control of your data and systems. ORACLE CLOUD MACHINE Operated by Oracle in your data center for your convenience, and available as a subscription, Oracle Cloud Machine delivers the benefit of aligning spending with the revenue realized from applications. Oracle supplies the hardware, installs the software, and handles the day-to-day operations.

GoldenGate, Let’s Get Started
GoldenGate, Let’s Get Started
Mike Messina, Rolta AdvizeX
With Oracle Database 12c some features are being deprecated like streams and advanced replication. With this deprecation we have to replace this functionality. In this presentation we will introduce Golden Gate as the replacement for these features. We will cover the basic architecture of Golden Gate and it functionality that can more then just a replacement for stream and advanced replication, but a tool that we can utilize for upgrades, consolidation, migrations and Extract Transformation and loading.
* What is Golden Gate
* Why Use Golden Gate
* Golden Gate Architecture
* Golden Gate Requirements/Limitations
* Golden Gate one-way Replication
* Replace Streams
* Near 0 Downtime Platform Migration
* Near 0 Downtime Upgrade
* Near 0 Downtime Maintenance
* Golden Gate Multi-master Replication
* Golden Gate Extract, Transform, Load (ETL)
* Load Your Datawarehouse
* Some Best Practices for Manager Process
* Some Best Practices for Extract Processes
* Some Best Practices for DataPump Processes
* Some Best Practices for Replicat Processes
* Golden Gate Basic Troubleshooting Tips
* Golden Gate Basic Tuning Tips
* Monitoring Golden Gate
* Questions/Discussion * Myth 1: You need a NoSQL DB to scale
* Myth 2: You need to abandon ACID transactions to scale
* Myth 3: You need to de-normalize [no joins] to scale
* Myth 4: You need to manually shard your DB to scale
* Myth 5: You need to re-write your apps to scale

Partitioning and Compression for Performance and Manageabili
Partitioning and Compression for Performance and Manageability
Mike Messina, Rolta AdvizeX
Using Oracle partitioning features and compression options we can maximize cost savings as well as performance while not sacrificing ease of management. New partitioning features can help us improve performance, combining with Advanced Compression and Hybrid Columnar compression to reduce disk storage costs and inch out some further performance improvements all while making sure it is still easily managed. Show examples and demonstrate cost savings and performance gains and management ease.
Outline
* Touch on industry challenges
* Explosive Data Growth
* Performance
* Costs
* Look at Partitioning Features that improve performance and do not add management overhead
* Examine 11g Advanced Compression and impact using 11g partitioning features
* Show impact of hybrid columnar compressing
* Show how Partitioning and Advanced Compression together help address some of the industry challenges
