Bryan will present on Oracle memory management. He will cover in detail how to best determine memory allocation for your system. He will also discuss how Oracle memory structures utilize the memory.
Bryan Grenn has been an Oracle DBA for 20 years, consulting at different companies in the Rochester Area. He has been the Technical chair for UNYOUG for a number of years giving presentations. He avidly blogs and tweets (link on unyoug.com). Most recently he worked as enterprise architect implementing a very large application utilizing the Oracle tool set. He is currently a Principal Exadata Sales consultant at Oracle.

This presentation provides a top 10 of common things to look for in SQL statements and their associated explain plans, based on anecdotal experiences with data warehousing queries.
Patricia Mariani (nickname Trish) is an Oracle DBA with over 15 years of experience. She has an OCP (10g) and specializes in performance/sql tuning. Currently employed at Univera Healthcare in Buffalo, NY (Excellus Health Plan, Rochester), she has recently been working on tuning efforts on very large data warehouse databases (5+ terabytes) and finds the work very interesting. In her spare time she likes to read, golf, dance, and play the bagpipe.

In this overview discussion, we will review the hardware and software details of the appliance, demonstrate the administration of the system, and discuss a specific use case of backing up Oracle Exadata Machines to the ZFS appliance with RMAN.
Jason Weiss is a Principal Advanced Support Engineer in the North American Advanced Customer Services (ACS) organization. He has held many technical and lead positions throughout his career, including Unix system administration, pre-sales architecture, and post sales delivery. Jason currently is also the North American open storage lead for his group and resides in Rochester, NY.
