Virtualization Features 101 and Q&A

Virtualization Features 101 and Q&A
Kellyn Pot'Vin-Gorman, Delphix

The concept of virtualization, snapshots and similar technology is mind boggling, to say the least. This session will take you through basic to complex concepts that encompass today’s virtualization products. Learn the difference between the newest buzzwords like:
File System and Consistency snapshots
Copy Data Management
Test Data Management
Disaster Recovery
Self-Service Interfaces
Once you learn all about the difference between a snapshot and a snap clone, then Kellyn will offer a Q&A session to answer questions about the technology different vendors offer and how their features stack up. Knowing what each does is half the battle in understanding this important technology for the future of database administrators, developers and storage administrators everywhere!

Virtualization- To Infinity and Beyond!
Kellyn Pot'Vin-Gorman, Delphix

Cloud is everywhere and the database administrator is caught in the middle. How do you know where to start and what to migrate first? How do you perform consolidation planning and ensure data security?

This session builds on the impressive customer experience from Kellyn Pot’Vin-Gorman with years of architecting virtualized environments to show how to simply and securely migrate to the cloud. A full demonstration, along with tips and tricks to show how the DBA can secure their environment to allow a self-service option so they no longer are the road-block to projects!

Upon leaving this session, the attendee will leave with a clear understanding of:

· Principles of virtualization and why it’s the answer to so many challenges we face today.

· How easy it is to secure data in the cloud using data masking features.

· The ease of connecting to the cloud and migrating environments.

· How to troubleshoot when issues arise and the tools available to diagnose issues.

DB 12c New AWR, ASH and ADDM Features Using EM13c and Beyond

Database 12c New AWR, ASH and ADDM Features Using EM13c and Beyond
Kellyn Pot'Vin-Gorman, Delphix

The Automatic Workload Repository, (AWR) and Active Session History, (ASH) have been the defacto choice of any optimization DBA when investigating performance issues in Oracle. With the addition of the Automatic Diagnostic Database Monitor, (ADDM) comparison reports and other new features, we’re able to add a whole new level with the introduction of Oracle version Database 13c.

This session will dig in deep to the new additions to the AWR and ASH reports, along with the benefits of advanced investigation, trouble-shooting and diagnostics with Enterprise Manager 13c and the command line with SQL*Plus to show the power of the “always- on” approach of the AWR for the DBA who requires data behind their findings to ensure they never assume or guess, which is the first step to losing one’s credibility.

Kellyn will demonstrate how to translate the new wait events, new additions to reports and what steps can be taken for individual findings to gain a new perspective and answers that the business needs in the “I need the answer now” demands of a DBA’s world.
