DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR
JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Performs planning, engineering, installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, operation, and support of database management systems – Oracle (mostly 10, with migration to 11), MS SQL Server (mostly 2000 – 2008), and limited DB2.
• Develops and enforces database standards and operational procedures.
• Designs and installs database management system applications and helps to determine appropriate linkages to existing database applications and to other data processing systems.
• Aids in the development of a backup and recovery scheme for the database environment and the development and implementation of disaster recovery business continuance procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to carry a pager and respond to 24/7 support
• 3 to 5 years of related experience
• Understanding of database design and data storage techniques.
• Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
