Abstract:

We installed Exadata V2 in mid April 2010 as one of the early adopters. The Exadata DBMs are primarily used for data warehouse purpose. In this talk I would like to share our experience of migration from 10g/Linux, upgrade Exadata from quarter rack to half rack and full rack, major version upgrades including the latest 11.2.0.2, and performance lesson learned with respect to Indexes, Statistics, Partitioning, and HCC.

Bio:

Abraham (Abe Tong) is a Sr. Database Administrator and Engineer at a large pharmaceutical and biotechnology company on West Coast. He has over 11 years experience with Oracle in versions of 7, 8, 8i, 9i, 10g, and 11g. He has in depth experience with Oracle RDBMS, RAC, ASM, and has built a home grown version of HA single instance database solution based on Oracle Clusterware. He also has extended experience in server and storage architecture and engineering. His current focuses are virtualization, new storage technology, and high performance databases solutions that are building blocks of private cloud infrastructure for databases.
