Detailed Job Description:
Rochester Institute of Technology is executing an exciting, multi-year program to replace its existing Student Information System. RIT’s Information & Technology Services division is seeking a programmer / analyst to join our Application Development team for this adventure. This self-motivated individual, reporting to the Development Manager, Student Systems will become an integral member of the team that has a critical role in the transition from our existing systems to the PeopleSoft Enterprise campus solution.
• Collaboratively work with RIT technical and business units and external organizations to configure and implement the PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions and related applications.
• Understand and integrate existing 3rd party vendor applications to the new Student Information System.
• Develop appropriate documentation of the new system, its interfaces and help create and maintain test scripts.
• Participate in the the development of department policies regarding the software development lifecycle, source code control and change management.
• Interface directly with users, developers and other IT staff.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with various customers.
• Work effectively as a team member and individually.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Education:
Masters degree in a related field preferred OR
BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field highly preferred.

OR

Extensive commensurate experience acceptable in lieu of degree

Required Experience
• 3-5 years related experience in programming and analysis with a variety of technical projects
• Minimum of 1 years experience programming for the PeopleSoft applications using PeopleTools and UNIX required
• Minimum of 1 years experience with the PeopleSoft v9 applications

Required Skills:
Individuals interested in the Student Systems Programmer/Analyst position must possess the following skills:
• Strong communication (written and oral) with the ability to work directly with business partners and end users are required.
• Ability to analyze a complex business problem and evaluate the impact of potential solutions from both a business and technical perspective is required.
• Possess the self initiative to be given general guidance on an objective and to achieve that objective with minimal managerial guidance.
• A functional understanding of one or more PeopleSoft modules is required.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills are required.
• Significant experience with PeopleTools 8.5 is required.
• Strong experience with Oracle 10g or higher, SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, and UNIX/Linux is required
• Hands-on experience with Process Scheduler is required.
• Ability to learn new technical, functional and business concepts relating to the PeopleSoft applications without formal training is required.
• Experience with the software development lifecycle process, software quality assurance processes, source code control and change management required.
• An understanding of the higher education environment is preferred.
• Experience with Peoplesoft Campus Solutions, PeopleSoft EPM, PeopleSoft CRM or PeopleSoft Portal is preferred.
• Knowledge of or experience with Java script, XML, REST, HTML5, CSS is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Higher Education Student Information Systems development/support
• Experience with supporting vendor-provided solutions

Preferred Skills:
• Hands-on experience with programming using SqlServer technologies
• Experience with UC4 and other scheduling technologies
