Department/College Description:
RIT’s Information & Technology Services division is seeking an experienced and qualified Data Integration and Data Warehouse Senior Programmer-Analyst. This motivated and responsible individual, reporting to the Manager of Data Management Services and working cooperatively with peer staff, will assume key analysis and development responsibilities associated with RIT’s Data Integration, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence initiatives.

Please note-this is a temporarily funded position with anticipated end date of December 31, 2013

Detailed Job Description:
Assume a lead analyst/developer role in the development and deployment of data integration and data warehousing solutions for RIT that directly support the strategic goals and objectives of the Institute using RIT’s prescribed technologies and methodologies. Be an active proponent of and maintain an active mentoring role in the analysis, design, and development of data integration and warehousing components so as to ensure end-to-end solutions quality and the highest possible level of customer service and satisfaction.

Maintain existing data integration and warehousing applications and processes using the RIT’s standardized suite of software development, change management, and runtime products. Test and implement new application components, processes, and reports for RIT’s environments while adhering strictly to prescribed methodologies and processes. Develop software components and solutions that adhere to development standards and are accurate, efficient, and maintainable. Provide technical and functional troubleshooting of software bugs and performance issues related to data integration and data warehousing.

Regularly meet with customers to gather and/or clarify requirements associated with development iterations and to perform status reporting. Perform detailed analysis and documentation of requirements to determine the best solution for meeting the needs of the customer. Assume an empowered role in the analysis, design, development, and deployment of solutions.

Provide technical and functional mentoring to other staff in the department or on a project team. Follow department policies on the software development lifecycle, source code control, and change management. Interface directly with users, developers and other IT staff. Establish and maintain strong relationships with various customers. Work effectively as a team member and individually.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education: BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required.

Experience:
4–6 years in structured systems analysis, design, development, and implementation including the development and utilization of formal SDLC methodologies.
2–4 years designing, developing and deploying successful data integration and data warehousing solutions.
2–4 years progressive and hands-on experience with contemporary versions of vended data integration and/or data warehousing solutions.
2–4 years progressive and hands-on experience with contemporary Business Intelligence tools.
1–2 years in data modeling, database design, and database performance tuning
1–2 years in modeling/design of data warehouse and business intelligence databases
2–4 years in the development, operation and integration of diverse application architectures and technologies

Familiarity with IT security policies and procedures

Skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and consulting skills with the ability to work directly with business partners, technical staff and end users are required.
• Ability to analyze complex business and technical challenges and evaluate the impact of potential solutions from both a business and technical perspective is required.
• Ability to work directly with end users to identify and document functional requirements and translate those requirements into effective solutions is required.
• Possess the self initiative to be given general guidance on an objective and to achieve that objective with minimal managerial guidance.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills are required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
• A willingness and ability to work as part of a team as well as an individual contributor is required.
• Ability to mentor less experienced team members, both technically and functionally, is required.
• Ability to learn new technical, functional and business concepts relating to applications implemented at RIT without formal training is required.
• Experience with formal software development lifecycle processes, software quality assurance processes, source code control and change management is required.
• Experience implementing Information Systems with standard toolsets and technologies is required.
• Experience integrating Information Systems is required.
• Experience with Mainframe technologies, client/server technologies, and web application technologies is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with the modeling and deployment of Oracle databases is required.
• An understanding of the higher education environment is preferred.
• A willingness to work casual overtime on a periodic basis and accept on-call responsibilities is required.
• The ability to act and present one’s self in a professional manner is required.
