The Institution
Le Moyne College is an independent college established by the Jesuits in 1946.  Its mission is to provide students with a values-based, comprehensive academic program designed to foster intellectual excellence and preparation for a life of leadership and service. Today, Le Moyne has evolved into a nationally acclaimed college of liberal arts and sciences that draws students from across the U.S. and abroad.

Le Moyne is the second youngest of the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States and the first to open as a co-ed institution.  In its sixth decade, the College strives to balance its 470-year old religious and intellectual traditions with progressive education and training.  The College serves approximately 2,300 undergraduate and 800 graduate students.  Le Moyne offers 31 different majors and master’s degrees in nursing, business administration, physician assistant studies, and education.  Le Moyne has a culture that values creativity, innovation, service, and thoughtfulness.  

Le Moyne College was recently awarded a $50M gift to create The McDevitt Center for Creativity & Innovation, a center that will engage in interdisciplinary research on the major challenges facing our planet today.  This Center will transform and influence the College and its place in the academic community.

Position Summary
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) provides leadership, management, and direction for the College’s shared information systems; including institution-wide strategic planning, budgeting, and coordination and integration of all College IT matters.  The CIO serves as the College’s senior spokesperson on issues related to administrative, student support, and academic information systems.  The CIO will provide vision and senior leadership for the development, coordination, and use of technology to enable essential innovation in research, learning, and public service.

At Le Moyne, Information Systems is a strategic partner across the college for information sharing and decision making.  The IT organization provides support during a pivotal and transformative time at the College, where the use of academic-side technology is growing rapidly.  Major initiatives are in process in the areas of online and instructional technologies, professional development in using emerging technologies; business processes improvement, as well as facilities enhancement.

Leadership/Vision:
• Provides leadership to ensure that the technological services of the college meet the present and future needs of all students, faculty, and staff; recommends innovative IT strategies, direction, solutions, guidelines, and processes to College leadership.
• Provides the framework and leadership to the IT group as it moves toward a consultative model.

Collaboration/Communication:
• Facilitates communication and collaborative problem-solving among faculty, staff, students, vendors, and community partnerships; participates in College-wide policy making and planning committees as well as project committees; and builds and maintains collaborative relationships both internally and externally.
• Advocates for the effective and efficient application of technology and technical services at the College.
• Upholds a strong customer service orientation within the IT department.

Operations/Business Processes:
• Provides direction on the integration of technology infrastructure, administrative systems, academic and instructional technology, user support, and external access to support institutional goals.
• Leads, guides, and oversees the institutional Information Technology budgeting process, and provides leadership in cost and productivity analysis.
• Supports the IT organization in the area of governance; helping the department develop a framework for work prioritization and service. Uses knowledge of business analytics to improve business processes.

Supervision/Development:
• Provides creative leadership and a vision for a responsive and efficient customer service driven Information Technology department.
• Conducts performance appraisals. Handles employee disciplinary issues.  Fosters professional development and implements systematic training for IT staff.

Reporting Relationship:
The CIO reports to the Vice President of Finance and Administration.  The CIO sits on the President’s Cabinet and is the lead IT voice across the institution.

Qualifications
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities described above.  Demonstrated record of creating and implementing an innovative organizational vision and mission.
• Experience in leading the implementation of online education and the enhanced of technology in the classroom.
• Customer focused orientation. Proven ability to enable people and systems to work together. Orientated toward placing the power of information in the hands of users.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially with respect to articulating highly technical concepts to both more technical and less technical audiences.
• Strategic thinker with an open and collaborative style of leadership that fosters teamwork, sustains a learning environment for staff, and develops a service oriented organization that engenders trust from the College community.
• Experience in strategic and operational planning, policy development, problem solving, and contract negotiations.
• Knowledge and understanding of the academic and administrative functions of a College.
• Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
• Ability to provide strategic guidance and counsel to clientele in the assessment and development of existing and/or proposed systems.
• Knowledge of current trends and developments in Information Technology.
• Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques.
• Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management.
• Experience with Datatel’s Colleague, Benefactor, and related information management products are preferred.
